Our "Success Template"
This is my personal success story. It's about a father helping a son. It is simple, yet incredibly significant. My son needed help promoting his landscaping business. He was great at doing the landscaping, but had very little experience in running a business -- especially the part that causes most businesses to fail -- being a business person. The numbers are staggering -- most small businesses fail within their first few years. How many times have you seen it happen? Someone is a great craftsman, a superb attorney, or even a talented designer. Yet their business struggles to survive or even fails. Their special area of expertise makes them very good at what they do. But if they cannot promote themselves, run an effective business, and acquire and retain satisfied customers, they will most surely fail. (Or, like many who are barely hanging on, live chaotic lives where they struggle all the time...) So, I did what any good father would do. I took my years of marketing and computer expertise, and did what I could to get him going. In addition to generating an effective local print advertising campaign, I constructed a company web site. It was nothing special, but it was cleanly designed and it portrayed a professional image. A funny thing happened. My son started to get busy. Very busy. I ended up helping him do more of his "business management," which included contacting potential customers who called in responding to his advertising. More and more signed contracts. He got busier and got better projects. As I knew the value and importance of tracking prospects, I kept asking where the calls came from and asked his customers what caused them to decide on his company. The answer? "We loved your web site!" Did the web site sell them on its own? Absolutely not. But a significant number of the clients stated that the web site's professional look, along with the content we put on the site, helped convince them of my son's professionism and his work ethic. Yes, he developed great references because he does a great job. But the professional web site was the reference tool that pulled it all together and gave him the credibility to get the projects! An important thing: A great web site, alone, will not generate customers and will not give you the underlying qualities to be successful. You need to offer a good product or service for the value, do something better than most others in your field, and have good customer service skills. Most of these are something we CANNOT go into here at this time. What we can do, is show you the inner workings of the "Success Template" and show you how to make your web site integrated with what you are already doing to bring you to your next level of success! Let us show you how!
